PICS | NYFW Tracy Reese, Essence Street Style Block Party, & Essence Street Style Awards Dinner

Yesterday was a world wind of fun! My cousin kicked it with me as I ran around NYC from Brooklyn for brunch to Manhattan for NYFW and then back to Brooklyn for the Essence Street Style Block Party and Street Style Awards Dinner.

I started my day with a yummy brunch at Superfine in DUMBO. I was invited by the Dark & Lovely team and I had the opportunity to chat with other NYC Hair and Fashion bloggers.

Following brunch, we zipped it up to Manhattan to cover the back stage for the fashion mogul, Tracy Reese. SheaMoisture was the official hair sponsor for the fashion show and it was awesome to see how they styled the models for the show using the same SheaMoisture products that I love and use on my own hair. It was an honor to meet Tracy Reese and she posed for a quick pic!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay to watch the Tracy Reese fashion show because I had to book it back down to Brooklyn to meet all my loves and curlfriends at the 2nd annual Essence Street Style Block Party. In case you weren’t aware, Essence Magazine held its second annual street style block party under the Manhattan Bridge Archway in Brooklyn, NY. It’s pretty amazing to party right under a bridge.

Everyone was out there! Celebrities, bloggers, curlfriends, fashionistas, men and children. The day-long extravaganza—fusing music, fashion, art, shopping and food— featured special guest appearances by TV personality, fashion designer and ESSENCE Street Style Fashion Show co-host Vanessa Simmons, and multi-Grammy nominated singer Jazmine Sullivan.

I hung out at the SheaMoisture Beauty Lounge talking up close and personal with the SheaMoisture stylist, sales team and of course ALL OF MY LOVES. I took almost a hundred selfies and pictures. The SheaMoisture trailer was the spot to be, with lines of people from left and right waiting to get their makeup done using SheaMoisture A Better Way to Beautiful Cosmetics and/or to have their hair styled on site and then purchase products.

The Essence Media teams were on the hunt for the hottest looks at the block party. I checked out the photo gallery on Essence today and I didn’t make the cut-I need to speak with someone’s manager-LOL. Check out these top Looks from the Essence Block Party.

Following the Essence Street Style Block Party I said goodbye to my cousin, did a quick outfit change and high tailed it to the Essence Street Style Awards Dinner also sponsored by SheaMoisture.

The awards dinner celebrated style innovators, stylists, designers who all have their fingers on the pulse of what’s haute. The venue was gorgeous. Food was great. And lot’s of good company.

I met people I adore, admire and love. Singer Ciara attended the event and was awarded “Curator of Cool”. Jason Rembert was awarded “Style Disruptor”. Actress Gabrielle Union was awarded “Closet Crush” and Designer Charles Elliot Harbision was awarded “Designer to Watch”

All of your outfits were beautiful! Your hair looks gorgeous in every picture. And I totally didn’t know Shea Moisture had a makeup line as well-that’s great!

Although your schedule has me tired just reading about it (ha!) this looks like it was great fun. I’m a NYC native so I need to try that strawberry margarita at Superfine. And, because I love to try new lotions and potions, I would have been parked at that Shea Moisture Beauty Lounge at the Essence Street Style Block Party. And now that they have a makeup line, I’ll be playing with that soon!
